Multiple sclerosis (MS) is a chronic immune-mediated inflammatory disorder of the central nervous system affecting the brain and spinal cord in which the body's immune system causes damage to the myelin sheath (material surrounding nerve cells to protect them) (1,2). This damage causes a delay or blockage to messages to and from the brain to the rest of the body.
