Dysphagia

Although regulations regarding diet prescriptions vary across Canada and in other countries, the dietitian should make recommendations for texture modification and liquid thickness based on the findings of the clinical swallowing assessments when available (3).   

 

In prescribing therapeutic diets and/or nutrition support, it is important to consider the effect that it will have on the individual’s quality of life (9,14,15).
